Understanding Pregnancy Trimesters
A typical pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks and is divided into three stages called trimesters. Knowing which trimester you are in helps you understand the changes happening to your body and your baby.
The Three Stages:
- ● First Trimester (Weeks 1-13): The baby's body structure and organ systems develop. Most miscarriages and birth defects occur during this period.
- ● Second Trimester (Weeks 14-27): Often called the "golden period" as morning sickness fades. You may feel the baby move for the first time.
- ● Third Trimester (Weeks 28-40): The baby grows rapidly. You may feel more uncomfortable as you prepare for labor.
